Broadcast segmentation is one of the fastest ways to improve campaign performance without writing a single new word. When you send to your engaged segment instead of your full list, every metric goes up: open rates, click rates, conversion rates, and your overall sender reputation.

Most email platforms make building an engagement segment feel more complicated than it needs to be. With Claude connected to your Kit account, it takes one prompt and about two minutes to build and tag this segment before your next send.

Build me an engagement segment based on my last five broadcasts. I want to identify subscribers who opened at least three of those five emails. Tag this group as 'broadcast-engaged-30d' in Kit. How many subscribers qualify, and what percentage of my total active list do they represent?

Step 02 Review the segment size

For most lists, 20 to 40 percent of active subscribers will qualify for this segment. If your number is lower, that is a signal your list needs a re-engagement campaign before your next launch. If it is higher, your list is in excellent health.

Step 03 Send your campaign to the engaged segment first

Send your promotional email to the broadcast-engaged-30d segment 24 hours before you send to your full list. Track the open and click rates on this first send. Strong performance from your engaged segment protects your sender reputation and gives you data before the larger send.

Step 04 Send to the broader list if results are strong

If the engaged segment open rate is healthy, send to your full list the following day. If the open rate is lower than expected, revisit your subject line or offer before sending to everyone.

Step 05 Rebuild this segment before each major campaign

Engagement data goes stale quickly. Rebuild the tag fresh before every significant campaign rather than relying on a tag from three months ago.
