Prompts

Your email list is either growing or dying. Here's the system that tells you which.

Net subscriber growth tells you whether your top-of-funnel is working. This prompt pulls week-over-week growth from your Kit account, shows you which sources are driving it, and flags where the slowdown is happening.

Building an email list is not a one-time task. It is a continuous process that needs regular monitoring because the inputs that are working this month may not be working next month.

Most founders have a vague sense of whether their list is growing but cannot tell you exactly how fast, which sources are driving the most new subscribers, or when growth started slowing. Without that precision, it is impossible to know where to focus your energy.

This prompt gives you a clear weekly growth picture so you always know what is working, what is not, and what to do next.

Before you start, here's what you'll need

The setup.

Step 01 Enable source tracking in Kit if you have not already

Make sure your Kit forms and landing pages have distinct names that reflect their source. If all your forms are named "Default Form" you will not get meaningful source data. Take five minutes to rename them by source before running this analysis.

Step 02 Run the growth report prompt

Paste the prompt below into Claude with your Kit connector active.

Copy and paste this into Claude

Give me a week-over-week subscriber growth report for the last eight weeks. Show me total new subscribers each week, total unsubscribes each week, and net growth. Then break down which signup sources, forms, or landing pages drove the most new subscribers over that period. Where has growth been strongest and where has it slowed?

Step 03 Identify your highest-performing sources

Claude will surface which forms, landing pages, and traffic sources are driving the most new subscribers. If one source is significantly outperforming the others, ask yourself how to send more traffic there.

Step 04 Find where growth has slowed

A source that used to drive consistent signups but has dropped off is usually pointing to a traffic problem, a landing page problem, or a lead magnet that has gone stale. Identify which one and fix it before moving on.

Step 05 Set a weekly check-in rhythm

This prompt takes under three minutes to run once your connector is set up. Add it to your weekly review so you catch growth slowdowns before they become a pattern.

That's it.

List growth is the upstream variable that everything else depends on. A healthy, growing list gives you options. A stagnant one limits them. Run this report weekly and stay ahead of the curve.
